about

The picture is Ewen Mackay my wifes great great Uncle he died on the Somme in 1916, His brother Alex had already died on the beaches at Gallipoli in 1915

This Album is for all those that served us so well. We don't seek to glorify war. World war 1 was however a defining point for Australia and New Zealand as a Nations. Per Capita we lost the highest proportion of our youth than any country, losing a whole generation. Mostly due to the ineptitude of generals from another countries to look after our troops. Late on in that war we moved to being under our own Generals and things changed dramatically. The Anzac legend began and with it a level of Nationalism (in a good way) that was irreversible and Australia and New Zealand started to become their own Countries,
